Review:
The Slugg family lived in a small flat at the top of a building called Vanilla Villas in the charming sea side town of bunting-on-sea. Mr and Mrs Slugg had 14 daughters who were all under the age of eight and were all very musical and talented. They also had one son Theo who was 12 and who liked doing nothing particular. The flat was rather cramped and noisy with all those musical sisters so Theo moved into the lift. He'd made his corner quite comfortable. He had a bed, a small television, a few books, a couple of pictures and a curtain made from an old tartan rug. Theo got used to people going up and down. He was happy until one night his grandma went in the lift. This wouldn't have been odd except for the fact that she had passed away for three months. "G-g-g-grandma" gasped Theo shaking Theo was scared. His grandma would always boss Theo around. "Get out of bed you little squit" said grandma. "And close that mouth of yours before a blue bottle flies in. "B-b-b-but grandma y-you're DEAD" "Now get out of bed" barked grandma again "I want you to meet some dead people". More dead people! Theo shrank back beneath the bedclothes. "Grandma iv'e g-got to sleep I got school tomorrow" he said. "Rubbish you lying toad" said grandma. "You've got no school tomorrow because it's the holidays".
Excerpt:

Theo's grandma wants Theo to retrieve a bone belonging to one of Theo's passed away relatives from the desk of unscrupulous local tycoon, Josiah Jellicon of Jellicon comestibles. Theo's plagued by singing toads until he agrees. That's when he meets Alix. Strictly speaking Alix didn't pass away but she isn't really alive either.
